What is the future of connection between people, nature, and technology?

Horizon is an optic interface
imagining the possibilities of emerging technologies when deployed at the intersection of people and nature.

Designed to identify plants,

Horizon uses three methods of light-based
sensing to provide users with information
about the environment.

Imagining the possibilities of emerging technologies

An optic tool presents the opportunity to enhance human perception, utilize emerging technology to expand on plant identification methods, and act as a more transparent interface for communicating information about the physical world.

  1. Macro Lens

  2. LIDAR

  3. Microscopic Lens

  4. Multi-spectral Array

Three Primary Functions

Enhance human vision
through magnification.

Identify plants with sensors and computing.

Communicate information through XR interface.

A tool that enhances knowledge of nature.

Connect people with nature.

Support environmental health.

Give agency through technology.

Explore Intelligently.

Turn on the heads up display, and Horizon becomes an expert digital tool that supports foraging, learning, and science.

Magnify the World.

Dual analog lenses expand the world around you and reveal the details of nature.

Identify Species.

Horizon uses spectral imaging, 3D scanning, and image recognition to redundantly analyze the environment, improving
upon unreliable modern apps.

Analyze Attributes.

Horizon visually analyzes and provides contextual information about edibility, harvesting, and plant attributes to the user.

Guide Interaction.

UI elements pinned to the environment in Horizon's display guide users in making observations.

Share Findings.

While operational disconnected from networks, recorded data can be uploaded to contribute to a dynamic map of collective knowledge.

Forager, Naturalist, Explorer, Gardener, or Educator,

Horizon connects people and nature.

Triple Redundancy

Horizon uses a edge model to process three sensor inputs for high identification accuracy.
